I just couldn't resist this treatment to this shot. All adjustments were made in levels/curves. The Praying Mantis is by far and beyond my favorite "little" creature. Because they are terribly interesting and outer worldly to me, I wanted to try some changes in lighting as an experiment. I do have the regular images of her shot in color. She was a very willing and happy participant in this shoot. Not only did she walk onto my hand on que, but jumped into my hair and changed her color to brown at one point. When I put my hand up to take her off my head, she again walked onto my hand as if she were trained and I released her back to where I found her. Never once did she try to flee in over 100 pictures of her (even as close as 3 inches away!). I have a few more I might post of her. I had a hard time leaving her without wanting to protect her as long as she lived. Truly intelligent, exotic creatures.

She not only was cooperative, she seemed to enjoy the company. Mantis are like that in my experience, some are in a bad mood and would rather not be a part of any of the sort, then there are those individuals like her who you want to adopt afterwards and spend hours upon hours with. I saw an hour long special once on the Praying Mantis on the National Geographic Channel, I need to buy that on DVD. Anyways, nice to see you Glenn, it's been a while. ;)
