These are magnificent birds and this is a great shot up close showing the "personality?" of the bird.

There is a wildlife park not to many miles from my home where they keep injured birds (among other native animals etc). They are all in large open flights but behind wire all the same. I too like the wire outlined in the background as it gives a hint of the surroundings in which this magnificant bird is kept.
This was my first outing to the park for a long time and the first opportunity to use my 300D shooting through the wire. I was not so sure how others would view the wire, so your comment gives me encouragement. I must post some of the other images of our magnificent birds.

Love this! Most raptor photos have the bird pretty much sitting there and doing nothing. They always look good. But this one is better because the subject actually looks like it's concentrating on something. I can feel the thought (if that's the right word) and concentration. That's cool.
I'm wondering more about the details. Was the bird in a cage? Is that pattern in the background from out-of-focus chicke wire? I actually find the pattern interesting. It's soft so it's fine. I think this one is pretty damn close to perfect.
