The Sierra Buttes, in the California Gold Country, with abandoned mining equipment in the foreground. This image is untouched - exactly as the camera captured it. It's a good example of how the Casio EX-Z750 handles scenes with a broad range of tonal values. Overall it does a fair job. Note that the cloud is blown out and there is an obvious halo between the sky and cliffs. I made a conscious effort to hold detail in the shadows on this image. So that's part of the reason the highlights are a little blown out.I made a test print of this and the haloing was clearly visible at 8.5x11. Color is good. The image is a little harsh and contrasty, though. The camera's saturation and contrast were at their default settings and the in-camera sharpness was set to




. Sometimes what we think may be a failure plays nicely into the image. I believe that is what has happened here. I see so many pictures and this one really brings out the spirit of the old west.
