Great detail in the rock and you captured the movement of the water very well it's got that nice cotton texture that we look for. As to the comp I'm not as sure I keep thinking I want to see more of that rock even though you have it positioned nicely in the upper third and the point comes out and directs the eye into the center. I may be totally off here Carl but I just seem to need the photo to say more. It is a nice image but It leaves me wanting more. I got a little run on here sorry about that.

Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

This is one of my favorite photo projects (tide pools etc), and I have been off of it for quite too long. So im back in the saddle again, so to speak. I appreciate the honesty. Another part of the image that was questionable for me was the center shaded portion, I don't really like that part. I will be going back out this weekend to see what I can get. Thanks again,

The most exciting part of the photo is the firecracker droplets from one of the waves. Aside from the title, nothing about this photo says tide pool (aside from maybe the nature of the light reflected in the 8:00 area of the photo). It could just as easily be Colorado River Rock.

I think some of it has to do also with the texture of the rock, the asphalt nature of it as well. Maybe some sand would have balanced it out. Seeing the asphalt slickness of it, perhaps a title like Saltwater Freeway would stimulate a different response. Also I think if you rotate the camera so that the dof shoots across the top of the rock more than directly at it, it would enhance the message of this subject. I think that has something to do with the shape of the rock (angular arrow tongue) and the moving water. (I hope that makes sense.)
