Very striking image Gary.
But I would prefer to see the plough totally surrounded by snow. Part of the plough being in front of the dark sky weakens this very slightly.slightly. But it all depends on the standpoints you were able to position yourself in. By any standards this is a great image.
BTW I have just looked at the larger image and the impact is great and the plough point I made above becomes weak.

I agree Gary this one has the WOW factor. Very crisp with beautiful detail and wonderfully balanced. Got to love how that sky just allows the rest of the image to pop out at you. You out did yourself on this one. Sure worth tramping around in a little snow for. Great job.

Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Dana. . .thanks so much for the great words. . .and rating. Much appreciated.

Tom . . .you bring up an interesting point of view on the composition here. I had never even considered having the plough fully in front of the snow, but you have opened my mind up to something I might normally pass over. The only problem i can foresee with that would be losing some sky and looking down on the picture might lose the effect of the "house on the hill" look. If I thought of it, I could have stood on my car to get that, something I would most certainly do. Thanks, Tom

Larry . . .Yeah, the darker sky really enabled the elements to pop out in their light. I thought my day was coming to be a waste of time, until later on things started to look "right"

Davidid. . .thanks for commeting. I'm happy you find that the picture works.

I had taken several shots of this scene, most of them with a wide angle lens. My first thought was that I wanted to exaggerate the plough and show the house in the bg. This shot was my last one and I had taken it from further back with a longer focal length. Turns out I have learned a valuable lesson at approaching landscape shots in that you can never rule out the telephoto lens for doing landscapes. Wide angle is not always the answer.

I like this verry much, the simple composition here is verry effective, The snow and the sky make this a verry clean looking picture., the only thing i would change here is maybe the title, i don't see a hill.
