The one leg fact really makes this photo mean more to me. He has now been immortalized by you and somehow makes a larger impact on the world.....ewwww..this is way too deep for me...lol. The only thing I don't like is that there is not quite enough room above his head, another inch would be great.

I wanted to keep the symmetry of the image (and I had to trim the original photo). The water's line at the bird's leg is here in the half height of the picture. Therefore the seagull is having little place above the head.
On the beach I could see more than one seagull is crippled (only one leg).
I may be wrong and you may be right, and by an effort, we may get nearer to the truth.
