I like both the comet images.Impressive display.I imagine that equiptment you're using helps produce these stunning images. The EOS 5D has a reputation for exceptional low light/high ISO performance.
This image proves that.
Fantastic display from the heavens.

That should grab plenty of light, right after sunset im imagining?

It could use a little NR in my opinion, the only thing I really see "wrong" with it. Very nice shot, good of you to take the time to set up and get this shot. A rare subject to capture.

Thank you for all your comments. The photos were taken last Friday night at around 10PM Eastern Australian Summer Time at Sandy Point on the beach looking out over Waratah Bay. (you can see it from Google Earth:
http://maps.google.com/?t=k&om=1&ll=...48339,0.081453 ).

The camera was mount on a tripod, pointing south. I used manual timing, aperture and focus. As you can see from the photo I didn’t quite get the focus right. The blue sky is from the illumination of a half moon. The could were moving very quickly across sky giving the impression that we are looking at the head of the comet through the clouds.
