Thats a cool looking bird.
Looks as though you may have lost some color on the head.and to me the bird seems a little soft.This may only be my monitor though. I think the composition is good. Nice photo!

Thanks for your comments. You are right the image is a little soft. I forgot to reduce the ISO as it was taken at 1600 and the noise in the photo limited the use of any sharpening tools and it was also cropped quite heavily. You may also notice that the birds head is also a little over exposed. Normally I take all my photos in raw mode giving up to three stops of light editing. The was taken at the spur of the moment like all good photos are. I should practice the boy scout motto “be prepared”.
