I like this shot, B/W's of colorful critters are great to me. Most people don't like them but I do. Colorful objects tend to be high in contrast, and I think they make magnificent B/W subjects, as does this one. The flash does help the contrast even more and makes the Monarch "pop".
Thanks very much for the comment. I was just messing around with PS one day, experimenting with older photos and thought I would give the b/w version a try. I too thought it came out nicely but the majority of the few comments I received were not in favor of it. They felt turning this subject into b/w was a bit inappropriate as some subjects simply were not meant to be seen in b/w. I understand, I guess. Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
