Went out this morning and got some pictures. Need help with these photo's. Sunny day, distance of shots between 200 to 300 yards. Subjects constantly moving and worse you don't know which way they will move. Another lens or camera is not an option at this point. I am using an Canon PowerShot S2 IS. These were taken with landscape mode, sunny day, vivid colors. The glare is terrible on this one otherwise it would be a nice shot.

Two things - tele-extender and predictive auto focus. I don't know if either one is available for your camera, though. Have you checked the auto focus modes on your camera? Canon's predicitive AF is called "AI Servo." If it isn't possible to manually select it, try the sports scene mode. It may use predictive AF.

A tele-extender is an add-on lens. They are available for a lot of compact digital cameras and I expect that includes your S2 IS. You probably have to buy an adapter to use one. But that will give you much better image quality than the digital zoom you're using now.

If you really like taking photos like this, where you need a lot of reach, it might be time to start thinking about investing in either a 35mm or digital SLR. It will be a big investment if you want to take super long photos like this. But it will give you a lot more lens options. Telephoto lenses over 200mm are very, very expensive, though. At least good ones are.

Thank you for the info. I will get my manuel out and see if I have any of the options you listed. As for another lens or camera I'm afraid that is not an option right now, but once again thank you for the info and I will do some research--at least I know what to look for now.
