Good fine grade film as well as good prime lenses will notmally produce good results. Of coarse the person behind the camera has a little to do with it. Shots like this I usually shoot at a small apeature and long exposure time to suck every drop of light out of the sunject as posible. I probably shot this at about f-16 for about one second .

Thanks for the photo tips, advice. I'm getting interested in Dawn captures as of late.

In the last couple of days there have been some "Fandamtastic"[wonder what famous person coined that word?]Sunrise shots in the Bay Area. I have 5 that I kept, posted.
I'm trying to preserve the details, it's hard from my vantage(being in the city) Alot of foreground obstacles.{Trees, Powerlines,Houses} What is your advice?
Get to higher ground ? hahahaha.

Sorry I was so long getting back to you, I've been playing in Las Vegas for a week. You can get some outstanding dawn and sunrise shots in the city, Take advantage of the reflective qualities of the building windows and try framing some in the canyons of the buildings, You might also try some close vertical shots of reflections in tall buildinf alike the Trans Amerca tower. You can take it as far as your imagination will allow.
