Far out! I was there a few weeks ago - although not down in the canyon. This is the same canyon that all the ice climbing apparatus is in? I have photos from the top, looking down in.
Tough exposure. I don't know if you tried to work on it or not. But I would shoot something like this dark to hold highlight detail. Then I'd use masked Photoshop adjustment layers to selectively lighten the shadow areas. I do that with pretty much all my photos. This is an especially tough spot, though. The photos I shot from the top were pretty rough and I tossed most of them.
