Nice objects, but the tripod or a stabilizer lens is reqiured ( e.g. 18-200 nikkor F3.5-5.6 VR...). Your Sigma and the camera have not a stabilizer ( as are in Sony alfa or pentax k100), and on landscape photos near 300mm always at night will be moving blure. As you can see, this picture was moved. You can take same picture by S1 IS and compare these shots.

David,
This was captured at 28mm not 300mm. This is 2 photos stitched together.Creating a photo with almost 160 degree view.

My D80 was on a tripod, the distortions you see are the result of temp. differences over the water,land.This in effect is air movement not camera movement. Very much like how the stars seem to twinkle. We know the light from stars is steady and bright. But,It is the atmosphere which causes the "Twinkle" distortions.
