I think so because of a wind the focus is not. In such case the post process (sharpness) can not correct the photo.

Hi,
It was my intent to show the feeling of the breeze.

I feel shots such as this will be more accurately reproduced with DSLR.
My S1IS ( tiny lense) has its limitations in low light:mad2: .

I tried to get a better DOF. Maybe manual focus might be the option.

No Rick, I think it is another problem.
For larger Dof need and sharpness need:
- F8.0
- wide zoom
- Tripod+IS
- ISO=50 (manualy)
For smaller dof you can try full tele zoom and f2.7, Tripod + IS, ISO=50 always for low noise factor.
This helps if the object is Static(E.g. no a wind).

Anoter way:
If you will use hyperfocus mode for your lens, all objects till 4-5m will be in focus, and far objects will be not in focus. I used it in my camera.

A SLR can not help too if big DOF need since the lens are shalower 4-folds as your S2.

With a SLR for bigger DOF you must use F1.4-f2.0 lens, F11-14 for sharpness and high ISO800-1600. The noise will be as at your S1 ISO=50!!

Nicon D80 has not an IS system and VR lens need (Nokkor 18-200 f3.5-5.6 VR, & 700$!! ). Insteed your one lens you need to buy expansive 2-3 lens. Do you already ready for it? Try before a SLR with KIT lens of you friend and look results. I already did it on Nicon D70 with standard 18-70mm lens. I would not say that I was satisfied - the only advantage was that I could not use a tripod. I think you can answer at PH, he has great expirience with SLR.
