Carl,
Congratulations on the new SLR. I'm impressed by the low level of noise at iso 400. I like the detail captured about the main focus of interest - the face and eye. In wildlife shooting you don't always have the luxury of maximizing settings before pulling the trigger, but if you had the time, the DOF could have been improved by reducing the aperture a bit. Was this hand held? With image stabilizing I would think you could get down to a shutter speed of less than 1/300 before you get a motion blur. Overall, very nice. I'm waiting for more!

Yeah I am so far impressed by not only the low ISO, but the grain structure of it. It seem so un-Sony. Finer and less coarse. This was indeed hand held and I was at the full end of the telephoto, and like you say, I should have had a smaller aperture. I have taken shots as low as 1/2 second hand held with no blur, it's amazing! I can't wait to take more, thanks for commenting Bill!
