Small improvement.?

Any tips for shooting this type of subject.? Bigger lense I suspect

Would suggest that this one is the better of the two, Rick - the upright suits the subject - which looks less fuzzy, but wonder why the bird is so low and did you decide such a dark background was an advantage.

I really have no idea what type of bird this is...? it's a Finch,or a Robin Cardinal ?
I need more practice with the Canon to overcome it's weakness's
Does anyone recognize this species of bird;?

Glenn I'm not all that pleased with my technique here. I tried to make a fuzzy shot clear. I will be ready next time he visits the neighborhood.
The Image stabilization system could not overcome my shakey hand at 32x zoom haha.

Improved positioning - to my mind.

The beak suggests a finch but the colouring is something we don't have in this part of the world - as far as I know. Bit curious, I must admit

This looks like a Purple Finch (yes, they are red). It looks like this was taken with a digital zoom, hence the reason it isn't clear. I have had that problem when I have zoomed in on birds with my digital zoom.
