I like the expression of the subject. But I don't like the lying down pose of the black background at all. The pose makes me tip my head sideways and it feels awkward. The black background feels too heavy and dark for the subject and doesn't work with the light. Black is usually for dramatic subjects and dramatic light. For a happy kid, better to go with something bright and lively to compliment the subject.

Is there any reason why you didn't shoot outdoors? I generally prefer natural light for portraits.

WOW I am so excited someone critiqued my photo!! Thank you! This shoot was on a whim just before bed time but I do love to shoot outdoor. I am VERY greatful for you comments Thank you so much!
