Father of the modern day sport bike...The 1986 Yamaha FZ 750.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the bike that started it all for Yamaha when it comes to the sportbike market. 1985 was the first year for the FZ750 with the 5 valve Genesis engine. In order to create a straight, non-restrictive intake tract, Yamaha engineers designed the engine with the cylinders tilted forward at a 45 degree incline. In addition, they incorporated a 5 valve per-cylinder design(3 intake/2 exhaust). The innovative engine design and location also created an awesome front/rear weight bias.
