Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.
It was color as it was from the Sigma and then the RAW file was converted to monochrome. Yes, it needs some sharpening. This was one of the last of the 'Samples' shots that are minimally processed.
The Foveon/Sigma images seem to take about twice the sharpening of some other cameras I use regularly. This it looks like from the files got about +1.5 adjustment.
Can you give me a little info on what zoom,lense size, type...ect.

I was thinking of bringing my 35mm camera out of retirement. (Yashica SLR 35 mm) To try some experimental night shots.
It features 3 very high quality sigma lenses.
My canon S1iS lense is not strong in the night photography/low light @ full zoom arena.
I have taken several moon shots at high zoom settings, the lense shows its flaws high zoom = high noise.
This is a very good detail shot of a very interesting subject.

I believe most of the pertinent information about the shot is listed. I used a 400mm fixed focal length lens and it was on a heavy tripod.
The other parameters are listed and the EXIF data is in intact as this was a sample shot that went along with the testing for the review of this camera.
Have you tried a tripod and manual focusing with your S1? Problems I have had with the digital P/S or digicams is they 'hunt' under some lighting conditions and thus the picture isn't focused. That and the little sensor saturates more quickly.
Have you tried bracketing, even to the extreme, to control the light?
Sigma makes a wide variety of lens in both zoom/focal lengths and in quality. I've used several on different platforms and had pretty good success. Their older lenses are good film performers and their DC lens are hard to beat, certainly for the money. You might look for a used lens for your Yashica to try it out. Just make sure that an older camera that may have sat for some time is working properly before trying an 'extreme'.
