Most people think of Alberta as having Canada's first oil well since the discovery after the war in 1947.

The first oil well in Canada is located near Leamington at the southern tip of Ontario has been in operation since 1858. This well may also be the world's first. Americans would say the first well was in Titusville, PA according to www.wikipedia.org. We'll let history decide. For further info:
