Sony announced their first waterproof digital point-and-shoot at PMA this year. The Sony Cybershot DSC-TX5 is, by far, the sleekest waterproof camera to be introduced. It's waterproof to 10 feet, shockproof from about 5 and apparently it also uses a Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor. I'll have to look into that sensor more. But in my experience, the waterproof cameras all have somewhat compromised image quality. That it uses the CMOS sensor indicates that Sony may be more serious than anyone else about the image quality with the new TX5.
