Outstanding macro Jerry. This one has it all! the D3 is a remarkable piece of equipment in the hands of someone that knows how to use it. You sure fit that bill.

To be a cash-saver, I found a program on the Internet, d700hack.exe,
that allows you to convert a D700 NEF file to a Nikon Capture NX readable NEF file.

Nikon, for some reason, provided a legal copy of Capture NX with the used Nikon D3 body I bought. The D3 is a FX-format camera.

When the Nikon D700 body [also a FX-format camera] came on the market, so did Nikon Capture NX2, which is needed to handle NEF files taken with the D700. But when a NEF file is processed with d700hack.exe -- the free solution puts the D3 name somewhere in the file name, and you can use Nikon Capture NX to tinker with the image.

Thank you for your comment about the big insect image, Mother Nature makes the subject, I'm just lucky enough to have a bit of skill to photograph what I see from time to time.
