That's wonderful, Jack. Was it taken in Arizona? How much post-processing was involved? I always find it hard to convey sun rays like this. You captured and/or rendered them very well here. Thiking back to when I had the D300 for testing, I think it was very good at subtle highlight details. My only criticism is that it looks a bit flat in the foreground. I might pump up the contrast just a bit in the bottom. I think it needs a little more snap.

Photo John, thanks for the comment---the rays are as I saw them and as photographed. It was very overcast so the foliage was muted in color. I guess this would have been the perfect shot for photomatix. This was taken about 120 miles southeast of Salt Lake just outside of Price, Utah on highway 6. I hope that the camera manufacturers are able to increase the dynamic range soon.

I don't know if this would really benefit from more dynamic range. I think your exposure is excellent. I just think it needs some more snap in the foreground. That's not a matter of dynamic range. In fact, increasing contrast would decrease DR. But I think it would give the image a little more dramatic flavor and improve it overall.
