| A controlled studio test of Canon PowerShot SD790 IS compact digital camera. It was shot at ISO 800 with white balance on the tungsten preset. The graybar, logo, and information were added in Photoshop and it was resaved as a maximum quality JPEG. Other than the addition of the logo and camera information, it has not been edited or adjusted at all. |

OK - ISO 80 sounds much more reasonable.
And also - I do read the pro reviews/previews here, and have even commented on a few.
My major gripe with the FZ7 is probably awful colored smudgy noise.

Looks like aquadog copied my text from the Nikon P6000 tests. I'll fix it. ISO 800 is by no means the minimum ISO for the Canon SD790 IS. That would be ISO 80.
As for the Canon compact camera image quality, I think it's about as good as it gets. If you read my Panasonic FX35 review you'll see I complain about overprocessing. No matter what point-and-shoot I use, I end up comparing the image quality to Canon. And that's because I think they're the best. I haven't shot with the Panasonic LX3 yet, and I have high hopes for it to be the exception. But so far, I haven't seen a compact camera that can beat the Canon PowerShots for image quality.

Wow, the low noise of this camera blows my little FZ7K away!!!
Also, is ISO 800 really the minimum sensitivity of the Canon PowerShot SD790 IS?
