Frans - Thanks for the posting. We had critters like this in Oahu, Hawaii. We had "Cane" spiders, that would come out of the cane fields when they burnt the cane to harvest for sugar production. I remember fondly the neighbor lady that ran screaming from her house (in the buff), when one of these spiders was discovered getting a drink in her shower! :-) Great shot, sharp - and the contrast really brings this spider off the page! Thanks for the memories! :-)
Thank you for your comments. These spider look a lot more ferocious than they are. They are not poisonous and are quite timid. I placed a bath towel under it and took it outside where it belonged.
Tim, I enjoyed your story of you neighbor. I had a frighting experience a number of years ago too. I was riding my motor bike down the freeway when suddenly a huntsman appeared on my visor, the inside of my visor, just an inch away from my eyes. I couldn't stop fast enough to take off my helmet. It was like a seen out of a horror movie.
