Wow Rick! I gotta start using a tripod. I am fascinated by the moon, and this picture only adds to that love affair I have going with this wonderful Earth satellite. Sharp and resolute! Rick, could you please tell us what light metering you used? That's another factor in getting images like this.

-Tim,The D80 is digital. I didn't have a tripod...so I just leaned on the fence.A tripod is always a good idea.Once in a while I've been using a bean bag for those creative low-down angles as well.

-Pam,

The settings were as follows:
Auto WB / Spot metering / Vivid mode.I used a 20 year old Non-digital Tokina lense that has very high quality optics / Hoya glass.
500mm and up -> really is the optimal way to capture this heavenly body.

Well then - BRAVO Rick on a stellar capture of this heavenly body! I am impressed. I will try the "Beanbag" idea. I have often used handrails, fences, and vehicles - but have yet to get a capture that equals this sharpness. Great use of older good quality glass! :-) - Tim
