Not a bad first attempt. I must add this image needs to be enlarged to get the full measure of its content. Young Mr. Werner is SOLID in this view. The current and white water is raging - and the young kayak skipper is in control. I would have cropped it a bit tighter, and just a bit. I almost bypassed this image - but decided to see enlarged version. Great shot - and I expect to see more GREAT work from you in the future. Sharp subject, powerful image and great exposure! Bravo!

Hey thanks for the comments, had the camera on me on the way into work this morning and saw the two kayaks on a weir I go over, so fired of a few photos. Can you elaborate on the cropping, it has not been cropped at all!!

The issue of cropping is as personal as shoe size. One size fits very few, but a rule to consider. A photograph has zones. Horizontal or landscape usually is divided into equal 4's. Verticals can have many variations. Regardless, you see an image - the eye will train on the image if you CENTER. Upper Left in motion to Lower Right for an image like this. Cropping is something like opinions - everyone has one and they aren't always good. I suppose I would have centered Mr. Werner - and cropped out a bit of the water around him. Not too much, as the water adds a great deal in the MOTION and POWER of the image. Just a bit, and more centered. In doing this - you would create Mr. Werner a bit LARGER in the image and the eyes would surely LOCK into this young kayak skipper. Just my opinion. Also you are on YOUR WAY - carrying the camera with you 24/7 will become the greatest hobby, or pastime in your life. Good seeing and shooting. Tim
