Great series of hacienda images, Armando! I've seen a number of old Mexican haciendas in California, dating back to the 1800's, but they pale in comparison to the veritable mansion you've photographed. Certainly looks like the abode of a wealthy family, perhaps a territorial governor? Do you know the history of the place?Ken

the hacienda was between the 17th and 18th century the richest in mexico , it had reported in early 1800's 3 million heads of cattle. the building shown here is from 1850, but the hacienda had started in late 1500 when a spaniard who was commisioned to look after the mines in the cetner of mexico bought a large valley between the cities of Guanajuato and San Luis Potosí. The haciedn started to make good progress, as it was close to the main commercial routes in the middle of the country , where a lot of the mined material traveled towards mexico city. The Hacienda was bough and inheritedd multiple times, his 9th owner is appointed Marquis by king Carlos III of spain in the 1700's. The hacienda continued in operation until 1950. at that point is abandoned and falls into decay, other photographer told me that 20 rs ago was full of garbage, today is being slowly remodeled, there are plans to start distilling mezcal, some new steel tanks are already installed. Wht started to me only as a photo trip, ended as a very interesting history lesson.
