What you see here is 100 years of oxidization. I'm not sure of the metal,but the colors suggest copper.

This giant (ten foot tall) wood door has been refinished at some point...but the turn (or hinge as it is commonly called) is a masterpiece of workmanship and is vintage 1908 unrestored.
