A 7.2-megapixel digital camera with a Carl Zeiss 12x optical zoom lens equivalent to a 36-432mm 35mm camera lens. Because camera shake is a problem with long telephoto lenses, the camera is equipped with Sony's Super SteadyShot® optical image stabilization. The H5 also ha sa huge, 3-inch LCD screen.

Sony also introduced the DSC-H2, a less expensive 6-megapixel camera with the same body and many of the same features.
