These sunflowers are starving for sunshine,that is some dense smoke.The mood of the scene is powerful if you think about what the smoke really means... Great shot!
I like the softly saturated colors, lightplay.Wonderful to see a "Field" that has so much personality, in light of the over 800 terrible wild fires.This image gets me thinking,feels like there is light ahead.Hope! It's a Norcal thing...
At first I thought...why not main focus on the close flower, that's me.Yet, as captured it gives this a different attittude,great look into the field which is exposed quite nicely. :O) Good details with great "Golden hour" light.
This out of focus foreground element makes the mid range stronger,that pulls you in to a very big field.This effectively gives the viewer a "you are there" natural feel.
Smoke sure is a great filter of light! hack...cough.All of Norcal is under a blanket of smoke. The Governator is a busy man these days...

thanks for the comments!! I had a lot of people ask me why I didn't focus on that first flower and I honestly wanted something different. I was trying to show just how many sunflowers there were (HUGE fields) without losing the detail. The sunrise offered some neat lighting. I'm glad you got that perspective, and thanks for the comments on lighting-its hard to get the a sense of the coloring when you took the picture.
