For those of you who know Salt Lake, this was shot from all the way across the valley in Herriman. I was there shooting a cyclocross race and it was snowing. I liked the grim, heavy look of the mountains with the clouds sitting on top of them.
This was taken with the Nikon D7000 and new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS HSM lens. Because of the flat light and snow in the air, the original was very flat. This has been pushed hard in Lightroom and Photoshop. The black and white conversion was done with a Channel Mixer adjustment layer in Photoshop.
