Took a trip to the Alaska panhandle. As the night was getting darker, spotted another ship passing by in the distance looking out the window. Took total of 8 shots. 4 with Sony Cybershot H9 (with Zeiss lens) & 4 with Nikon D-70s with Tokina lens.
Although the Sony is feather light & had the IS (built-in stabilizer), when placed on a wooden rail for the shot, the SLR with the bulky lens locked onto the rail & gave a steadier shot.
As the night was getting darker, thought of using higher ISO (up to 1600 allowable) but chose to add brightness to give more details later. Since the original exposure setting was not very dark, even after enlargement did not show noticeable grain.
