Thanks Uncle! I was trying masking the background on an outside shot. I do it regularly with indoor stuff but not as often outside. Light seemed to work well for me.Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Congrats on the Featured Photo of the Day Larry, most deserving.Good job controlling the light.I think the dark background really absorbed the harsh light perhaps.Is CWA metering the most effective in this situation? I'm here to learn

Rick I just didn't want all that black absorbing light to effect the meter. I cut my teeth on center weight metering with the film Nikons so it's the meter system along with spot that I'm most comfortable with. If I happen to be in P (rare) mode I'll go to the matrix meter.
