this looks like a mammoth shaped mound to me...burial ground for the mastodons...really neat! the tree adds some scale too...very nice job!

This is a great composition Jack.
What is amazing is that these minerals were at one time miles below the earth's crust.This took millions of years to develop.And you took 1/800th sec. to capture the beauty.
As I see it...that really puts things into perspective for me,it's apparent how fast paced life really has become.
I find geology to be quite fascinating.

Thanks Rick. The Yellowstone caldera has been classified a high threat for volcanic eruption and according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey it ranks 21st in the United States and sadly if that happens what took 2.1 million years to develop will be gone in a couple of hours.
