Great photo, Andy! The composition is great and I love that tree. And the background in the big version is very good - it looks almost lunar way back there. And that ties into the moon in the sky. There's a somewhat surreal quality here that I really like.
It looks a bit overcompressed - especially in the sky, around the tree branches. Are you shooting JPEG? Did you compress this a bunch before you posted it? You know there's no file size limit here, right?

Thanks John your feedback always means a lot to me. The hillside behind is limestone so there are lots of bits of limestone pavement stivking through which, when covered with snow gives the lunar look. I shot this in RAW as I do most times and then converted it to JPG in DPP. This iimage is the large size I downloaded from Flickr which may account for the compression. I haven't knowingly compressed the image.
