Ya i had to agree with you.I took this shot very fast (as in very fast) thats why i had no time to focus my camera properly.I saw this dogshow performing on the side street while on my way to the office and because i'm on a rush, i was not that sure on what type of shooting mode i'll use on the subject.
My recommendations:
1. Don't use AUTO, Try e.g. Program mode and set ISO=50
2. Set Autofocus=Center
3. Use Half-press before shot.
4. Clean shot via e.g. Neat Image.
5. Glenn quite right.A picture is worth a thousand words .....
