I shot this using the Olympus Tough TG-1's "Super Sport" mode, which optimizes ISO, shutter speed and burst to capture fast action. In this case, the sensitivity was ISO 500, with a shutter speed of 1/500th second and the aperture at f/2.4. The maximum full-res burst rate with the TG-1 is 5 FPS, plenty fast for most action. And the TG-1's fast f/2.0 aperture allows it shoot and freeze action in lower light than other waterproof point-and-shoots. If you look at the large version of this image you'll see that it is pretty soft from in-camera noise reduction and a bit of motion blur. On the other hand, I don't know if there's another pocket camera that could have made this sequence.

The sequence itself was assembled in Photoshop using the Photomerge feature. Building a sequence like this is a time consuming process, with a lot of layers editing. But it's the best way to really illustrate the high-speed burst.
