The title implies that the hand is the main subject, yet it is cut off almost in half, and more prominent in the frame is the bottom half of the face which has been thrown out of focus. What I see here is a good attempt. Good lighting, atractive model, but the mood seems fake and sarcastic, and the expression on the face looks annoyed.
Maybe including the whole face and switching focus not to mention a change of title and you would have a much better image.

I guess you are right about the title...I never have been good at that. In the actual 11x14 print his hand seems much more prominent. I will have to attempt some cropping options. As you can see I did a not so neat job of "scanning" anyway!
I don't know about the mood...I think he was actually watching tv, while I was fussing with lights. Not that that matters, I personally don't see the fake mood you mentioned. Sarcasm maybe. Annoyed probably.
It would be a totally different shot with your suggestions...which is always my goal, more opportunities to annoy my hubbie (Just kidding)!

Image looks pretty flat. You say the scan wasn't so great. I think a bit of levels adjustment in Photoshop or whatever software you have would make a big difference. I like the photo. I wish the hand wasn't cropped. But I like the crop on the face. It's sort of an anonymous intimacy.
