thanks dana....i started this piece as i often do without a goal in mind other than to remove wood and see what happens. as i got further into the carving it became obvious to me that i was carving an expectant mom.....the madonna you suggest is also pretty apt i believe...and so i dedicated it to my pregnant daughter charlotte. i had it on the shelf looking at it the other day from the back and horizontally luke (being the surfer that he is mentioned how much it resembled a wave and he was right it DID resemble a wave on the back so now it has become a carving for both kids with an expectant mom on the front and a killer wave on the back and i'll post another shot of ...front and back...as soon as i finish it.
