Wow! Looks like your getting the aquarium photo thing down! This one is a beauty! Looks like you could use a reflector or something on the right. But I bet this is harder than it looks. You've got some studio lights now, right? I think your efforts are really paying off.

John, great photo. Great. I know how hard this is to do, I myself have cichlids (african) and i've tried several times to get good pictures of them and I just get frustrated and move on to other things (its rare I do that too). I totally respect your work in this, and I doubt many really understand the detail and care that goes into a photograph like this (there are so many things you have to take into consideration to pull it off right). I haven't rated a photo a 10 in a long time, but I can't find a single thing wrong with it personally, and it really sticks out for me among the other photographs here. I personally like the dark front side of him, helps give it depth.

Don't know if you plan on submitting this to a stock company that specializes in fish pictures for books etc... but I would. It's that good.

Yes I do have studio ligtsnow, thoug they are not peo but any strech of the imaination. This shot was actually lit with one sitting above the tank at an angle. I have just begun with lighting, ao i have a LOT to learn.

Wow, all I can say is thanks! It is so great to know that someone out there really understands how hard it is to get a decent shot like this. There are so many variables it still amazes me that I can get a shot worth posting at all. My reject to keeper ratio is higher in this kind of photography than any other.
