Gary I think the try hard statement is so true even thought the instamatic crack was for fun. I think that is were a lot of us fall on our faces. We we want to let all the the new whiz bank equipment do all the work. It just don't happen that way the Photographer has to try harder.

I suppose I belong in a museum somewhere with my old fashioned ideas about unmolested photographs, I sure get some harsh critisism from the younger generations on my lack of use of digital enhancement and the creativity of photoshop. I guess if you want a photo created or massaged by a computer, you should quit calling it photography and possibly create a whole new art form for it, but for me i'll take a manual camera, a good light meter and quality film any day. Well time to crawl back on my shelf in the museum and resume the position of a foolish old fart!

superb capture and doubled pleasure with that great reflection. while i can understand your sentiments about the new tech stuff like photoshop and the digital explosion i'd just like to argue in it's favor for a second. what matters to me almost totally is the final product. a good painting is a good painting wether it was done with acrylics or oil or even mud for that matter. i believe that that sentiment holds true with photography as well.....that it is not how you achieve it but rather what you have achieved. this is only my opinion and i don't mean to lecture at all but i really believe that you should never close yourself off from options in the quest for fine art. i am an old film shooter from way back but find it impossible to ignore the wonders of the digital realm.
back to your most stunning lightening shot....it's simply great and i'll fight to the death for your right to shoot it any way you want ...even with an instamatic! ha! good job!
