This is from the first sets of photos with my new nikon d50. I have not used an SLR since my old pentax back in Jr. High School 1986. Cameras have come along ways and I am just getting back into photography. Any tips are appriciated.

Beautiful color--although maybe a bit on the dark side? I probably would've turned the camera for a vertical or diagonal shot of this bloom since it's the tall, skinny type, but a big part of photography is what you see and what you show us. Just keep shooting and keep "seeing"... Experiment, along with reading the manual.

First of all thanks for looking!

Second, thanks for the great advice.
I took it after dark to enhance the color, becuase I read that dark was a good time to reveal color. I really didn't consider going vertical, but I think that would have yielded a nice result, and now that you mention it I would have like to have had a shot or two that way. I really need to figure out what this thing does.

You are right.The color is revealed, I can't say when I have seen a purple as attractive.Well done, quite accurate colors. (y)
