Orca inlet, Cordova Alaska

Description}: This is another old pier at the Orca cannery in Cordova Alaska. This is overlooking the Orca inlet. The wildlife here is amazing Orcas are frequently seen in the inlet and bald eagles rival mosquitos in population. Not to mention the otters. This area was thankfully spared during the Exxon Valdez oil spill but some of the surrounding fisheries were devastated.

Description}: This is an old pier at the Orca cannery in Cordova Alaska. In the Orca inlet where the cannery is located the razor clam fishery was outstanding, but started to decline in the 50's. After the good friday earthquake in 1964 the intertidal zone was lifted up to 6 feet and eventually led to an industry crash.
