Description}: This cat, in its melanistic color phase, is often mistakenly referred to as a black panther. This species has been (and is still) illegally hunted throughout its range for sport, and for its fur. The leopard is capable of running just under 40 miles per hour for brief periods. It can leap more than 20 feet horizontally, and 10 feet vertically. It is also a very adept swimmer.

Description}: The Laughing Kookaburra is instantly recognisable in both plumage and voice. It is generally off-white below, faintly barred with dark brown, and brown on the back and wings. The tail is more rufous, broadly barred with black. There is a conspicuous dark brown eye-stripe through the face. It is one of the larger members of the kingfisher family.

Description}: Occurs from East Africa through parts of central Africa into southern Africa. Although the numbers may not have increased markedly the range of kudus has increased in southern Africa. The increase in range is due to more areas coming under protection. Kudus move great distances and in the past were persecuted as they moved through farmland. Thankfully, they now self-populate within new established reserves and conservation areas.

Description}: Northern Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo), a large Strigiformes raptor with a body length about 70 cm, is the largest night owl living in North China. The eagle owl lives in the mountainous area of Beijing and primarily takes hares, foxes, urchins and so on as food. It lays 1-2 egg (s) every time with a reproduction period 4-8 months. They usually build their nests in unfrequented caves. The eagle owl is a nocturnal bird and it is quite energetic in early morning, dusk or evening with dim light. The eagle owl is a resident bird in Beijing area and Beijing Raptor Rescue Center receives sick or wounded eagle owls around the year.

Description}: African wild dogs are the size of medium domestic dogs. Their Latin name, Lycaon pictus, means "painted wolf-like animal." Their coats are mottled in shades of brown, black and beige. They have large, rounded ears and dark brown circles around their eyes. The dogs differ from wolves and other dogs in that they have four toes instead of five.

Description}: The Red Eye Tree Frog is from the rainforest area of Central and South America. They have become the symbol used to save the rainforest. They are nocturnal... meaning... they sleep during the day, and awake at night. One of their favorite meals are crickets. Our tree frogs are housed in a glass habitat with special froggy dirt, live plants (free from insecticides), spanish moss and water. We mist their area at least once a day with fresh water. You shouldn't play with these frogs as their skin is very sensitive.
