Description}: Looking out from backstage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. I'm standing where Hank, Johnny and Patsy stood. It was heavy. I was a little teary that day :) This was taken during a Sony press junket in Nashville, where I got to try out the new Alpha A7R mirrorless full-frame camera. That's what I used to take this photo. Description}: This photo was taken in the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville, TN, now owned by musician Ben Folds. Dolly Parton, Waylong Jennings and the Beach Boys all recorded here. The light was very low so I pushed the Sony A7R hard and shot this at ISO 6400. I think it looks pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. The lens was Sony's A-mount 24-70mm f/2.8 Zeiss mounted with an adapter.

Description}: At Koener Hall in Toronto, Canada In the brochure Cameron Carpenter was shot like the profile of a Classical concert pianist with a black suit and bow-tie. But on stage he appeared with an uncharacteristic haircut, leather jacket & boots like a Rock star. Played a few common pieces like Bach fugues, Chopin Minute Waltz & La Capanella by Paganini arranged for piano by Liszt to a standing ovation. Photo was lightened on computer.

Description}: Every year Alegria gathers artists from Modena who put their talent to a good cause. This year the goal was to raise funds for the reconstruction of the center "La Lucciola Onlus", Center for Integrated Therapy for Children, which is based in Ravarino, hard hit by the earthquake last May.

Description}: Having a reliable P&S can sometimes do as much as a bulky SLR with an expensive lens. Handheld shot over people's heads in order to see the stage. Setting up a tripod was impractical with everybody watching the stage and waiting for the clock to turn 12:00 so ISO 400 would have to do. Shutter speed barely fast enough to freeze motion of the performers. Exposure setting on M than using an automatic setting with exposure compensation.
