Description}: Norooz 1387 - Eid-e Shoma Mubarak! In harmony with the rebirth of nature, the Iranian New Year Celebration, or NOROOZ, always begins on the first day of spring. Norooz ceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts - the End and the Rebirth; or Good and Evil. The origins of Norooz are unknown, but they go back several thousand years predating the Achaemenian Dynasty. The ancient Iranians had a festival called "Farvardgan" which lasted ten days, and took place at the end of the solar year. It appears that this was a festival of sorrow and mourning, signifying the end of life while the festival of Norooz, at the beginning of spring signified rebirth, and was a time of great joy and celebration. I CONGRATULATE TO ALL IRANIAN PEOPLE ANYWHERE AROUND THIS MOTHER EARTH. It is ChaharShanabeh Sori, where these days, young people spent their money for exploding small firecrackers for fun! I remember when I was younger, we had a peaceful ChaharShanabeh Sori without having fears of any casualties. ANYHOW, I perfered to stay with my dear computer and design a Eid card for the Iranian New Year. If you are curious to know, it took me almost 7 hours PS works with creating 27 layers! I should mention my computer crashed down twice which I had to re-do the works again.

After few years hard working, Iranian Aeronautics and Space Administration (IASA) managed to launch the first rocket into space to mark the opening of its first space center under the name of Kavoshgar on Monday, 4th Feb 2008 at 12:25pm. Few could not believe, but then many others were happy and proud of this first success program. Description}: This relegious actor is going to make himself ready for TAAZEEYE, the religious street theatre about Tasooaa in the month of Muharram which people mourn for Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his followers. He with the help of his co-actors play in different scenes of events of Kerbala. In the month of Muharram 61 AH (approx. 20 October 680 AD), an event took place in Iraq at a place known as Kerbala on the bank of the river Euphrates. It seemed in those days insignificant from the historical point of view. A large army which had been mobilised by the Umayyad regime besieged a group of persons numbering less than a hundred and put them under pressure to pay allegiance to the Caliph of the time and submit to his authority. The small group resisted and a severe battle took place in which they were all killed. It appeared at that time that like hundreds of similar events, this battle would be recorded in history and forgotten in time. However, the events that occurred on the 10th day of Muharram in Kerbala were to become a beacon and an inspiration for future generations. Description}: I dedicate this piece of my image to 'Darwin's Nightmare', and people of Mwanza. It was directed by an Austrian highly intelligent filmmaker Hubert Sauper who has a deep understanding of the political, social and economical complexities of the realities he is filming. His film was nominated for an Academy Award. In Darwin's Nightmare, Saupert transports us to Tanzania, to the small town of Mwanza on the shores of Africa's biggest lake Victoria. We learn that the town sees a lot of business because of the massive exports of a fish called the Nile Perch. This species of fish was not known in that lake before the 1960s when it was introduced to the lake. A predatory species, the fish multiplied, but also caused the extinction of other species to the point that the lake could be considered a mono culture. The export of the fish is seemingly good for the development of Mwanza because it gives jobs to tousands of people who work in a processing plant. Two airplanes come every day from Russia to this little town to load in 500 tons of frozen, packaged fish fillets and fly them back to the restaurants and dining rooms of Europe. The daily cargo could feed the little town for a long time, but the villagers don't get to see the fish fillets because after the fish has gone through he modern processing plant, they cannot afford the fish. Although millions of people in the Tanzanian interior live on the brink of famine. Some of them will eat fried fish heads, which are processed in vast open-air pits infested with maggots and scavenging birds. Along the shores of the lake, homeless children fight over scraps of food and get high from the fumes of melting plastic-foam containers used to pack the fish. In the encampments where the fishermen live, AIDS is rampant and the afflicted walk back to their villages to die. Therefore, fasting is not merely physical, but is rather the total commitment of the person's body and soul to the spirit of the fast.
