Description}: I think I tested the purple fringeing to its limits with this shot and I must say I was well impressed.Of course one does expect some on this glaringly difficult shot but even viewed full size it isn`t at all that bad.I don`t think anyone can dispute the fact that purple fringeing is not an issue with this camera.I do hope most of you agree with me.Taken about 10.00am just this morning.

Description}: Sorry but more shots to test for fringeing and as before I cannot see any,but if I am missing something please feel free to tell me.Also no sign of noise and I have viewed these full size on a very good monitor and still cannot see any.

Description}: Yet another shot to test for purple fringeing and yet again as far as I can see there is none,nor is there any noise.I find the pictures from this camera amazing.My friend has the Canon S2-IS and his pictures show fringeing almost constantly.

Description}: Another shot of leaves against bright sky to test for purple fringeing and yet again,unless I am missing something,there is none,nor is there any noise at all.Not bad for a consumer 5.1mp camera.Quite a remarkable camera is my view of the H1.

Description}: Took oportunity at 9.00am today as at last the sun decided to shine. Have been testing for "purple fringeing" with the H1 but I have no problems,at least not to the extreme that some so called reviews seem to have and the following pictures show I have well tested it to the limit and even on my computer at full size I can see hardly any--or am I missing something? And look!! no noise at all.

Description}: This is a photo of the back of the red bricked house in other zoom example photo.at about 1.00 o`clock.To my eyes this is a very clear photo. and when one thinks that it was taken with an equivalent zoom of about 660mm with a max speed of f3.7.Consider how much such a lens would cost to fit on front of a digital slr!!.I dread to think of the prohibitive cost of such a lens that would capture this excellent detail,plus of course the size and weight.It surely must bring to the mind of the digicam knockers that this is exceptional value coupled with excellent quality for such a long zoom.I used to lug around a Nikon D70 18-70 zoom Sigma 18-200 digi zoom.No longer of course,this does it all for me without breaking my back.

Description}: Taken on the wide end of the Sony H1 around about 1 mile or perhaps more,from where I was standing.My other picture shows the very good quality obtained when using the digital zoom.Photo wasn`t taken on technical merit of course,simply as an example of what camera is capable of.Photo is totally untouched.

Description}: Yet again the same as my previous shots of experimenting with close-up with Sony HI using a tripod.Probably only the 3rd time in my life I have used it---in 12 years of owning it.

Description}: My first try at close up with a tripod just to see what the DSC-H1 really is capable of--I am well impressed with the quality for a camera that does not cost the earth.Photo is of one of the Alstoemeria that I grow.I was going to do other colours but was dizzy after the lot I did.

Durham City Cottage

Description}: This is a very old cottage along the river banks in Durham City,it is owned by the Dean and Chapter who control the Cathedral and the banks and all that is associated with it.If you were called Donald Trump you could not buy this cottage.Everyone has a price I know---but not the Dean and Chapter,they are controlled by a far greater God.

Description}: There are always plenty of these urban seabirds living in Durham,well they get fed so well by visitors and locals alike it seems pointless traveling cold seas.This one sat longer than I thoght it would.Was taken on tele end of Sony at 61.7mm so I still had some zoom left.Photo was taken in action mode hence it is at an iso that is not user set.Contrast/saturation/sharpening were all camera set to standard,which IMHO give very good results indeed.I never use any of these settings enhanced as I find standard or even less settings are adequate.

Description}: Shot shows very small part of Durhams famous river banks.In the backround can be seen Framwellgate Bridge which was built in 1120 and all compliments to the architect,as up until 1970 it was still the main route for traffic through the city.I may add it was a nightmare as well,the streets are so narrow that the traffic was almost up on the path.This is very popular-I am pleased to say--with American visitors and we get a lot of them in the summer months.I have met a few and gladly showed them the older and more remote parts of our City.

Description}: Lock caught my eye,although judging by how flimsy the guys door is it seems pointless having the lock as the gap is wide enough to get a plank in and open door that way.Nice bit of bokeh with this camera I reckon.Again its a slow shutter speed,so anti-shake is ok by me so far

Cathedral of Durham

Description}: Bill Bryson to quote says "this is the best cathedral on planet earth" It sure is the finest Norman Cathedral built.Started in about 1093 and still standing.It stands on a hill in the middle of the city and is virtually surrounded my a horseshoe river which was a good defence in the days of trouble.Photo was taken from South Street--that expensive property I told you about in my door knocker photos.The view perhaps explains one of the reasons why.

Description}: Macro shot of a cornflower,blue has come out very well and was taken in auto white balance mode,which was a mistake as should have set it for cloudy wb--but has turned out ok.

Description}: Very old brass knocker taken on a house in South Street Durham City.This is a very old part of the town which overlooks Durham Cathedral,property prices here are prohibitive,houses are very old indeed.Please note low shutter speed,which goes to show the anti-shake certainly works.
