Description}: This young bobcat sat on our back patio for several minutes watching us watch him. By the time I got the right lens on the camera he'd had enough and was headed over the fence. Description}: A Fokker F-27 departing Santa Barbera, CA (SBA) on a rather humid day. Note the condensation spirals from the prop tips. Not the best of photos due to the healthy crop; 85mm is not an "across the airport" focal length.

Description}: A 1950s vintage Douglas DC-7 now configured as a fire bomber. Photographed at Coolidge Airport, AZ. This old girl is one of the most beautifully preserved examples of a DC-7 that I have seen in decades. The company that owns and maintains her definately deserves some kudos. I would love to see her completely restored and on the airshow circuit.

Description}: A 1950s vintage Douglas DC-7 now configured as a fire bomber. Photographed at Coolidge Airport, AZ. This shot shows the small "Storm Window" between the front windscreen and the side window. These small window were very common on early, unpressurized aircraft for the purpose thier name implies. When operating in inclement weather where visibility out of the front windscreen was impaired by ice or rain you could open these small windows to see outside. They were positioned so that when opened the airstream would blow the rain, snow, sleet, etc past them and not into the flight deck. Well...that was the theory at any rate. We still use the term "Storm Window" on modern light airplanes, but the new windows really don't serve the same purpose.
