Description}: The word "epic" really applies here. This is looking south from the Grand View overlook in Canyonlands National Park, near Moab, Utah. This is the end of the road - literally. The photo was taken using the Motion Panorama mode on the Fujifilm X100S. You just hold down the shutter release and pan across the scene with the camera and it creates a panoramic JPEG image in the camera. The only problem I had is if I wasn't careful about the shutter speed (too slow) I'd end up with some blur since the camera is moving while the image is being created. Live and learn is the lesson there, I guess.

Description}: Outdoor in bright light you can hand-hold using the lowest ISO for good resolution with a larger f-stop for better details. What exactly is the difference between the previous F770 & F800? According to Fuji you're supposed to get better results in low-light. You can bypass the aperture & shutter by using M when necessary. But unfortunately Fuji did not put in MF so in the worst case scenario you can switch to manual focus and still get something when the camera won't do it for you. The resolution is the same for both models with a few added settings on the menu. The 1 setting added for F800 is multi-exposure. You can exposed images on top of each other. However this works only in fully automatic mode so you don't have room to fiddle around with the settings.

Description}: Don't have much choice for closing down the lens to larger f-stop. Want to get a reasonably low ISO for enlargement and at the same time fast-enough shutter speed unless you're in a helicopter. Contrast darkened to give more details.

Description}: A panoramic image made from six images shot using the Panorama Assist mode on the Canon PowerShot D20 waterproof point-and-shoot camera. The images were stitched together with the Photoshop Photo Merge tool and some adjustments were made using masked adjustment layers. There's a pretty incredible amount of detail in the original stitched image. This one has been resized for convenience. But the full-size stitched TIFF file is over 14,000 pixels wide.

Description}: Looking south across towards Solitude Ski Resort from the Wasatch Crest Trail. I believe I took this from the proposed location for the SkiLink gondola, which is supposed to go between Canyons Resort in Park City and Solitude. I would hate to have that gondola ruin this view. This panorama was made in-camera from three frames shot with the new Olympus Tough TG-1 waterproof point-and-shoot. I did work a little magic on it in Lightroom and Photoshop to get the cloud detail and balance it all out.

Description}: I shot this with the Fujifilm X10's in-camera panoramic mode. You just hold down the shutter release button and pan the camera and when you let go of the button the camera assembles the images for you. Notice the red and blue smears on the left? I think that's someone walking through my shot. Also - note that the snow is blown out. The X10 shoots RAW, which is mostly what I used. However, the panoramic mode produces JPEG images. And because I was so used to being able to recover tons of highlight details in RAW, I blew the highlights in all the panoramics I took at Alta on this very sunny day :(
